25 before 25 - update

You guys, I have less than 2 months left to finish my goals. I already know that some of them I will not get to (like getting my driver's license - you kinda need to take lessons first). But that's totally fine. This list has been a huge motivator over the last few months, and I'm grateful for that. And I'm not 25 yet, so I have time to cross off some more. But here's what's been going on so far:

Check plus on the green ones:

11. Run a 5k - Last Sunday was the day, and I nailed it.

I ran it in 36.22 minutes, which was 2 minutes faster than my PR. I know it's still not very fast, and I've come to terms with the fact that I'm quite a slow runner. But hey - at least there's room for improvement! My next race will be the City Run in Hilversum on April 6th, so I have quite some time to get my speed up and my time down.

13. Journal - When I set this goal for myself I was doubting whether I should turn it into 'journal daily' or not, and I'm glad I didn't. Because that was just a train wreck waiting to happen. So I decided to be kind to myself, and just aim for 'more journalling'. Check plus on that.

14. Take more pictures of our day-to-day lives - Between my travel journal that turned out a bit more extensive than I anticipated (yes, it's done! I'll share it here soon) and my day in the life series (Check 'em out here - Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday), I've got that covered.

15. Go to Taizé for a week - Boy, was that a good goal to set for myself. It turned out to be one of the most intense weeks of my life, but I needed it so much. I remember thinking 'right now, this sucks. But it will get better, and you will come out stronger.' Which indeed was the case. During that week I decided to...

19. Do something that scares me - ...go to a therapist. This is something I've been talking myself out of for years. I knew it would help me tremendously, but I always had an excuse why that wasn't the right time, I couldn't afford it, or whatever. But I've taken the first step (of many, probably), and it feels good to be a work in progress :)

23. Get bangs - Check plus

(and check plus on a possible goal for next year: get better at phone selfies)

The orange ones are a work in progress:
5. Finish 10 DIY projects - I'm not really sure which number I'm at, but it's probably around 4, I think. But I have a paycheck coming up, and then I'll finally be able to buy the supplies I need to finish a lot of the projects I've been planning, including a laptop sleeve, a clutch and some new pillow covers.

10. Finish all yellow routes on the boulder wall - I'm at 2/6. And I'm halfway at numbers 3 and 4. I don't know if I'll actually finish all 6 of them in the next two months, but that's fine. This is one of the goals that has motivated me like crazy to keep going, try it one more time, I don't care if it hurts. And it feels so good to finally reach that final hold you've been working towards for months.

12. Read 25 books on my to-read list - I just did a quick count, and I'm at 9... Wop wop.

16. Sell something I made with my own hands - After publishing my list of goals before 25, my friend Tim told me he could help me out with one of my goals. He has some chairs that needed pillows, and he wants me to make them. I'm in the drawing/getting supplies/wondering what I've gotten myself into phase, but all will be fine. This will be probably my biggest sewing project so far, though. Would be awesome to be able to cross this one off!

A lot of the other goals are also in progress:
I am getting slightly better at goal setting and achieving, I've been learning about blogging and sewing, Imre and I are working on our book of recipes and I've definitely been tracking my exercise. But I'll talk about those some other time ;)
