Guess what I found?

My best friend's birthday is today, it's a beautiful day and there's sunshine on a day I'm not stuck inside IKEA! Woohoo :) And if everything goes well, I get to bring home a new mattress today, and a beautiful new dresser. Fingers crossed!
In the mean time I have some fun links for you.

I found this post on communication very inspiring.

I love this alternative epilogue to Harry Potter

I would love to have his dance moves...

These colorized historical photographs look so realistic!

Project Life - January

I had planned to share my first ever month of Project Life in the first week of February. Little did I know that it would take 2 weeks to get my pictures printed... I definitely won't be printing at Blokker again. But they're here now!

First up - my cover page:

That awesome 2014 card was designed by Caylee Grey, one of my favourite PL'ers. You can find it here.
I really wanted to record some facts of us right now (and got annoyed that I started with our working situation - WHY does that have to be the first item on the list?! But I adored the card and had only one of it, so I just went with it.), and probably will do it again for the last page of 2014. Imre doesn't like to share things about himself as much as I do, so I'm respecting his privacy here :)

I love how this picture worked out. It definitely is one of my intentions for this year :)

Week 1-5

Right now I have 2 recurring features:
* my week number is always on a photo taken this week, in the same fonts, using a colour from the picture.
* I have a blank piece of card stock on which I write out some things that happened this week.

A lesson learnt right away: don't add stickers to the outside of the pockets that you may want to replace later...

That smudged card has our address written on it.

I really want to add some handwritten journaling every week, and this week was perfect - I had a meeting with my therapist, and we came up with an action plan.
That "THIS" stamp is from Elise, and I LOVE it.

Yay for having things to add to my PL - movie tickets!

Some thoughts on my process so far:
I love this project. It makes me evaluate everything I've done in a particular week, and that is a good thing.
I love to add pictures, but these last 5 weeks have been slightly too photo-heavy. I'm ok with some weeks being only photos and a 'This Week' card, but I'm trying to balance things out a bit.
The week-on-one-page approach is something I really like. The week-on-two-pages approach would help me out with the balance between photos and journaling/white space, but I like the challenge of working with a smaller space :)
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post I'm looking for a new place to print my photos, so if you have any tips for a not too expensive company that's located in the Netherlands, PLEASE let me know :)

All journaling cards accept for the plain whites ones are from the Kraft Core Kit.

One Little Word for 2014

I started thinking about joining Ali Edwards in choosing a One Little Word around... September I think. I had chosen a word for 2013 (love), but didn't really do anything with it. Looking back on the year it did help me in some ways, or at least it has been a central theme. But for the next year (and the next word) I would like to be a bit more proactive about it.
Somewhere in early December my word for 2014 just popped up in my head. I  was excited about it right away, but decided to see whether something better came along. It didn't. So my word for 2014 is...

"Move". The word came to me when we heard that we would be moving into our new house mid-Januari. I started thinking about the word, and realised that it covers many things I would like to make happen in the new year. I want to literally move my body, exercise, get in shape. I want to be more intentional about the things I occupy myself with, and then actually do the things I think about, the things I dream of. The last twelve months I have been thinking about, talking about and analysing every inch of my life. And that is a good thing, but I'm so ready for the next step. I'm ready to act, ready to move.

Since choosing move as my word, I've been finding new areas in my life that I can apply it to, big and small. My relationship with Imre, the way I handle the day-to-day household chores, my search for a job, the search for who I am, my attitude towards life. I'm excited to see where move will lead me this year :)

Around here

It's a bit late to be writing a 'beginning of the year - let's go!' post, so I won't. I'll just stick to an Around Here, to catch up. I hope to be back to my (semi)regular blogging schedule soon!

I've been super busy making our new house into a home, and I'm proud to tell you that we're getting there. Obviously, there's still a lot to be done. There's art to be hung, curtains to be cut and hemmed, light fixtures to be hung, cabinets to be built, and there's always those last few boxes of stuff that need to be sorted through. But it feels like home, now :)

We have a new roof! For the last three weeks our house has been wrapped in scaffolding, and construction workers have been walking in and our of our house. Every possible way to add insulation has been done, so our energy bills should be quite low - yay to that! And we were actually quite lucky, since our house was quite the mess anyway. But I am very glad that we have normal daylight again, now that the scaffolding is gone.

I'm so excited about tonight - I'll be dancing my first ever dancing exam. It's a bit of a formality, but nevertheless a lot of fun. I love dancing occasions that I get to dress up for :)

Last week my bestie and her little one came to see the new house. It was so great to have the whole day to ourselves, and catch up. And stock up on baby cuddles :)

This morning I finally ordered my pictures for my December Daily album - another project that was put on the back burner while I fancied up this place. I also ordered the pictures for my first month of Project Life, and for my One Little Word album. I love working on all of them and I can't wait to put it all together!

I'm driving myself crazy with ideas for our office, but I'm trying to contain myself. The plan is to take Imre thrifting some time soon, and I hope I can find some of the things I'm looking for/thinking about for as little as possible (I put myself on a budget...).
